A public adjuster is an insurance claims adjuster who is an advocate for the policyholder in appraising and negotiating a first party insurance claim. James Public Adjusting Corporation has over 30 years of insurance experience. We perform aggressive representation and negotiation acting exclusively on behalf of the insured policyholder. Our clients are the insured policyholders – property owners and business owners who have either suffered a property insurance loss or who want to be prepared to protect their insurance claims in the event of any property damage or catastrophe. We have assisted property owners in assessing, documenting, presenting and negotiating settlements from fires, hurricanes, floods, collapses, thefts, sinkholes, business interruption, and other perils commonly covered under property insurance policies. Specializing in property loss adjustment, damage surveys, and loss appraisals, the firm provides a professional approach, enabling businesses, condominium associations, homeowners, and other property owners to achieve full value for their claim on a timely basis.

What are the duties of a Public Adjuster:

  • Evaluate existing insurance policies in order to determine what coverage may be applicable to a claim
  • Research, detail, and substantiate damage to buildings and contents and any additional expenses
  • Evaluate business interruption losses and extra expense claims for businesses
  • Determine values for settling covered damages
  • Prepare, document and support the claim on behalf of the insured
  • Negotiate a settlement with the insurance company on behalf of an insured
  • Re-open a claim and negotiate for more money if a discrepancy is found after the claim has been settled
